Judge Robert S. Sykes, Jr.  is a life-long resident of Ionia County.   He is a graduate of Ionia High School, Purdue University and Valparaiso University School of Law.  Upon graduating from law school in 1987, he worked in private practice with the law firm of McNamara, O’Keeffe and Sykes until his election to the bench in 2004.  While in private practice, Judge Sykes was very involved in the community including serving on the Ionia Public Schools board of education for nine years.
