The Commission on Aging (COA) offers a variety of programs for mature adults who are 60 or older:

Nutrition Programs:

Friendship Dinner Sites [Congregate Meals] are located in several Ionia County towns to provide both a noon meal and opportunities to gather with old and to meet new friends. A suggested donation of $3.00 per meal is requested to help cover costs.

Home Delivered Meals are available for those seniors who are homebound. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday in time for a hot noon meal. Those who wish may request a cold night meal, breakfast meal and frozen weekend meals. These meals are a general, no salt added diet. With a doctor’s prescription a liquid diet can be provided. The determination for Home Delivered Meals is made by a caseworker who makes a needs assessment together with the client. A suggested donation of $3.00 per meal is requested to help cover costs.

Senior Project Fresh enables eligible Ionia County residents, who are at least 60 years of age, to receive a coupon booklet during the summer months to redeem at Farmer’s Markets throughout Michigan in exchange for fresh fruits and vegetables. Applications are available at the COA in May of each year.
