Respite Care is available for caregivers on a weekly basis in the home as well as in a pilot program on Thursday evenings during the ICCoA Music Program. Respite Certificates are also distributed based on need and funding availability. Respite Aides are matched with the level of care needed for the elderly person which can range from companionship to hands-on care. An assessment is required prior to services beginning. A cost share may be required for this program.

Parkinson’s Support Group Meets monthly on the third Thursday of each month at the Ionia County Commission on Aging Senior Center in Ionia from 1:30 till 3:30pm.

Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP) Helps clients with questions and concerns about applying for Medicaid and assists in applying for both Medicare and Medicaid. Call our certified MMAP Counselor Deb Steele at (616) 527-5365.

Grandparents Parenting is held the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30 -8:00 p.m. in the conference room at Freedom Acres School. Freedom Acres is located at the Ionia ISD 2191 Harwood Road in Ionia. This support group is designed to assist grandparents who find themselves rearing their grandchildren.
