The Environmental Protection Agency defines a Brownfield site as “an abandoned or underused commercial or industrial property where environmental, economic, and social obstacles hinder use and redevelopment”.

The Ionia County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority (ICBRA) was created to promote local planning and implementation of Brownfield redevelopment in Ionia County.

The ICBRA, with the assistance of the Department of Environment Quality, has prepared a list of designated Brownfield sites located throughout Ionia County. Information requests pertaining to these sites can be obtained through Ionia County’s Freedom of Information process.

The Authority meets on the fourth Tuesday every January, April, July and October; at 10:00 a.m. in the boardroom on the 3rd floor of the county administrative offices.
