The Sheriff’s Office Deputy Clerks are responsible for a variety of tasks. They are the primary point of contact for most citizens, as they need access to records such as reports, LiveScan prints for employment or licenses, pistol purchase permits, and local records checks.

  • How do I obtain a gun permit?

How do I obtain a gun permit?
If you are purchasing a firearm from a Federal Firearms Licensed dealer, you will no longer need a purchase permit. You will still need to submit a completed Pistol Sales Record to your local law enforcement agency after completing your purchase. If you are purchasing from a private party, or someone other than an FFL dealer, you will still need to obtain a License to Purchase, but it may now be obtained from any police agency in the state that issues them. In addition, there is no longer a written test, and the license to purchase is valid for 30 days, rather than 10 days as in the past.
