Evidence-based Disease Prevention (EBDP) Programs
Evidence-based Disease Prevention (EBDP) programs have been rigorously studied, tested and evaluated and have been shown to provide positive health effects for participants. The following EBDP Programs are offered through the Ionia Commission on Aging:
NEW! Walk With Ease Program
Doctor recommended and developed by the Arthritis Foundation, Walk With Ease is designed to help you safely get physical activity back into your life! This new class will be offered at the Ionia Senior Center starting Tuesday, August 23rd. Classes will be held each Tuesday and Thursday from 11am-12pm through the end of September.
Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program
The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program uses gentle activities to help increase joint flexibility, range of motion and to maintain muscle strength. While the program is designed specifically for those with arthritis, anyone can participate. Currently offered each Tuesday and Thursday at the Ionia Senior Center, from 10-11am.
The Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi Program the Ionia County Commission on Aging currently hosts two Tai Chi classes at our Ionia Senior Center: Monday & Wednesday from 11:15am-12pm or Tuesday & Thursday from 9-9:45am.
Enhanced Fitness is a nationally recognized multi-component community-based, physical activity program designed for both fit and frail older adults. This popular class has sessions scheduled each Monday-Wednesday-Friday at both 8:30-9:30am and 10-11am.

Matter of Balance
Matter of Balance is an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels in older adults.
P.A.T.H. (Personal Action Towards Health)
P.A.T.H. (Personal Action Towards Health) is a Chronic Disease Self-Management program designed to help participants gain confidence in their ability to control symptoms and find new ways to reduce the negative effects their health problems have on their lives.

Armchair Exercises are gentle exercise program designed for those who are unable to stand for a long period. Classes are Monday from9-10am at the Ionia Senior Center.
Wii Bowling is a computerized bowling program involving everything about bowling except lifting the heavy ball.
