General Summary

Be part of a team helping seniors throughout Ionia County. Proficient computer skills are needed for this position along with good people skills.

Administrative Assistants support Ionia County Commission on Aging programs and services through a number of job functions: data entry, account payable, accounts receivable, Senior Center Services and by working directly with clients. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines is essential.

Applicants must also have the demonstrated ability, by previous experience or education, to work effectively with seniors and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients. The ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality and professionalism is required.

Prior experience at a social services agency, HR or bookkeeping, or with a database program is a plus. Flexibility, a drive to help others, enjoy working with a team and a desire to learn and grow are a big plus.

This summary outlines the essential functions and expectations of the position and may be adjusted to meet program or agency needs. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED along with 2+ years Administrative Assistant experience.
  • Proficient computer skills required: Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel, basic file management, keeping a calendar, familiarity with basic troubleshooting techniques for computer issues. Experience with basic office equipment (printers, scanner) also required. A proficiency test will be given.
  • A valid Michigan driver’s license or Michigan ID is also required. Must pass a thorough background check.
