Empowering Health Through Breastfeeding
In 2012, the American Academy of Pediatrics declared breastfeeding a public health issue, emphasizing its importance beyond lifestyle choice. Choosing to breastfeed is a powerful step towards your baby’s well-being. Exclusive breastfeeding enhances survival rates, and starting within the first hour after birth can significantly reduce the risk of newborn death. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for about the first six months of a baby’s life. After that, they suggest continuing breastfeeding while gradually introducing solid foods until at least 12 months, and longer if both the mother and baby are willing.
