Michigan law requires that persons who own, conduct or transact business in a county to register their business name(s) in that county as a matter of public record. Corporations, Limited Partnerships and Limited Liability Companies and Not for Profit Organizations owned by corporations DO NOT file at the county level.
Fees
The filing fee for a DBA Certificate is $10. Upon filing the DBA, you will be issued two certified copies of your DBA for your records or other purposes, such as banking.
Requests by Mail
To request a copy or to file/renew a Doing Business Certificate by mail:

- Download and print off the DBA Certificate and complete the required information. Please be sure to include the city and zip code of the business.
- All business owners must sign this certificate in front of a notary public. NOTE: A DBA certificate mailed in without a Notary Public certification will not be accepted for filing
- Send the completed and notarized DBA Certificate, a check/money order for $10 made payable to: Ionia County Clerk, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to:
